Thickness, finish and feel
Laminate usually ranges from 6mm to 12mm. A 10mm or 12mm board gives the most solid, real-wood feel; 7mm or 8mm can be a good-value option over a smooth subfloor.
Lighter oaks can make a smaller lounge feel bigger, while darker or grey tones suit modern open-plan rooms. Seeing the boards on your own floor, next to your furniture, makes the choice much easier.

Why does laminate need underlay?

What's scotia?
A small moulding fitted along the skirting boards to cover the expansion gap at the edge of a laminate floor. It gives a neat, finished look and is included in our laminate deals.
